Charming Log Cabin In Downtown Aspen
This is a charming 3 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin in the heart of Aspen, Colorado. (on the corner of 2nd and Hopkins) It's just what you picture when someone describes a quaint mountain cabin! It's location is great because it's just 2 blocks to the free skier shuttle, 4 blocks to the Gondola and steps away from shopping and restaurants.
The homes charm flows into the yard outside-- lots of aspens, pines and seasonal flowers. There is actually a fenced yard in the backyard if you have little ones that want to play outdoors.
The Master bedroom has a queen bed and private bath. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms both have two twin beds. It's great for singles or families with children.
This Aspen home boasts a comfy living room that is large and rustic with a cozy woodburning flagstone fireplace. The home is ideal for entertaining at home featuring a large family sized kitchen, large dining table, Cable TV, and VCR.
Ski Four mountains on one lift ticket--
Aspen Mountain (also known as Ajax) and Aspen Highlands are similar mountains, both over 3,200 vertical feet and each about 700 skiable acres. They are also both geared toward advanced skiers. Aspen Mountain has no beginner runs. Please note that Aspen Mountain does not allow snowboarding, though the other three mountains do.
Snowmass is easily the largest of the four. Over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain, and a 4,400 foot vertical drop (measured from absolute peak to the end of an access run somewhere in a condominium district - but we digress). Terrain is varied here, though 55% is considered intermediate.
Buttermilk (also known as Tiehack) is a smaller, beginner-oriented mountain. 2,000 vertical feet and about 420 acres of smooth, rolling terrain.
Average snowfall is around 300" (Buttermilk closer to 200"). Early season snow is relatively reliable - Snowmass and Aspen will open before Highlands and Buttermilk. Late season snow is very reliable, the mountains generally close due to their Forest Service permits which preset operating dates rather than a lack of snow.
Aspen's ski slopes are excellent, but it's town is tops in the industry. Aspen is an excellent choice for the non-skier or for non-ski months. There is so much to do for the outdoor enthusiast such as biking, hiking, mountain climbing, kayaking, fly fishing, golfing, etc... Over one hundred restaurants, bars, and nightclubs are found in the area - enough to keep you busy for months. This is also an excellent resort for shopping, as boutique stores and galleries number in the dozens. I've seen quite a few local celebrities just browsing the shops in Aspen!
