On-Site Amenities

This wonderful cabin in the cool pines was designed as a retirement home, with all the amenities and comforts for permanent living. There are three bedrooms and two baths, including a Master bath with a sit-down shower. The mammoth kitchen is completely furnished with toaster oven, microwave, and all the necessary cooking utensils and place settings needed to accommodate your discriminating palate. The dining room is surrounded by two large bay windows, perfect for early morning coffee or late afternoon naps. The large living room has two sofas, one a sleeper and the other has two recliners for guests wishing to rest their eyes. The television set receives local and Phoenix stations, and a VCR is included for your use.

The outdoor scenery is readily accessible through the two large picture windows in the living room, if you wish to stay inside instead of utilizing the rustic 52 foot covered porch. Outside is a park style barbecue grill for those steaks and burgers! Sitting on the porch, you can see Bill Williams Mountain's north side and the glistening waters of Cataract Lake, just 500 feet away, with majestic Ponderosa pines all around. Frequent visits from critters include rabbits, squirrels, deer, elk, and the occasional wild turkey.

There is no need to worry about keys; the front door is a combination lock, and recoded for each guest for added protection. The metal security screen door locks only from the inside to allow those cool evening breezes to flow through. No smoking is allowed inside the cabin, for the added comfort and safety of our guests. Also, no pets, please.

Activities and Attractions

Summers are cool and beautiful for hiking, fishing or golfing at Elephant Rocks Golf course just 1/4 mile away. The magnificent Grand Canyon is 60 minutes away, or take the three hour antique steam train ride to the canyon and watch the scenery change from high country pines to scrub juniper to high desert plains and back to the pines. There are more than 5 local lakes for fishing, with Caratact Lake practically at the doorstep. Williams is located on the historic Route 66 and you can check with the Williams Chamber of Commerce for information about the rodeo on Labor Day weekend, the parade on the 4th of July, black powder shoot, etc. Williams itself is a quaint little Old West type of town. In the winter, skiing is available, and saucers and a toboggan sled are kept for our guests' use at the cabin or the local snowplay area south of town. While at the cabin, a visit to nearby Sedona and the Red Rocks area is well worth the effort and less than 1 1/2 hour away.
