Description of the Property

The Dogwood House in Morro Bay on the beautiful Central Coast of California is fully furnished, including complete kitchen equipment and dining supplies, a dishwasher, a large dining table (great for building jigsaw puzzles) and a separate breakfast bar. We've tried to make the Dogwood House as much like home as possible, so there's cable TV, a VCR, and all the things we need when we visit our house, including easy access to plug in a laptop, plenty of wine glasses, a full spice rack and even a cookie sheet! There's also a woodburning fireplace in the living room, a downstairs laundry room with washer and dryer, a two-car garage and a small fenced yard. We keep a charcoal barbeque in the garage for your convenience, along with a couple of bicyles for your pleasure. The living room and the deck both have great views of the ocean and Morro Rock, and you can hear the waves day and night.

The neighborhood is very quiet, with little traffic, and safe for kids to walk or bike ride. The Dogwood House is easy walking distance from Morro Strand beach, a protected wildlife area with a pond for water birds, and a park with great walking trails and a kids play area. A local supermarket, gas station and restaurants are only a few blocks away. A 5-minute drive takes you to the Embarcadero in the lovely village of Morro Bay, with its many restaurants overlooking the bay, gift shops, bakeries and entertainment (don't miss the seals and sea lions at the local aquarium - they're too funny!). You can watch the pelicans, sea lions and an occasional sea otter fooling around in the bay while you shop or eat. Morro Bay also has a newly remodeled Natural History Museum overlooking the bay, the mile-long sand spit and the heron rookery; it has lots of "hands-on" displays, which are fun for kids and adults.

Morro Bay is located on the Central Coast only 15 minutes from San Luis Obispo, with its Old California Mission and many fine restaurants, including the famous Madonna Inn with its multi-era decor. Pismo Beach, famous for its clams and its sand dunes, is only 30 minutes south of Morro Bay, and the artist-colony village of Cambria is only 30 minutes north. Some of the best California winecountry is all around this area, with many wineries offering winetasting and tours. Hiking and horseback riding opportunities abound throughout the area, including the beautiful Montana de Oro recreation area. Hearst Casle and the elephant seal colonies at Piedras Blancas are just an hour north of Morro Bay.
