Set in a traditional Provencale 'bastide', or farmhouse, this independent studio apartment is one of four private, luxurious accommodations at 'Les Olivettes'. It is just 500 yards from the center of the well-known village of Lourmarin, in the heart of the Luberon Natural Park.
Complete with olive grove, large private swimming pool and magnificent views of the Luberon mountains, this recently refurbished bastide has the comfort and beauty, the harmony and artfulness that only a professional interior designer can create. And 'Le Genêt' has the charm, the elegance, the modern convenience and the privacy that one wants in a country retreat.
Lourmarin, where author Albert Camus once lived, conjures up the idea of culture, relaxation and prestige in an unspoilt Provençal village. It is one of only a handful of villages in Provence to be given a coveted 'Most Beautiful Village in France' award.
Home to two of Provence's most famous restaurants, as well as numerous other fine dining establishments, Lourmarin now has an international reputation for gourmet food and wines, as well as for its galleries, craft shops and cultural events.
'Le Genêt' and the other deluxe apartments at Les Olivettes offer a peaceful rural setting with panoramic views of the village and the hills. Yet they are only a five minute walk from the attractions which make Lourmarin a much sought-after holiday destination. Les Olivettes is centrally located for exploring Provence. Central to major cities and sites such as Avignon, Arles and Aix-en-Provence, it is also close to the hilltop 'perched' villages which dot the area. In addition, it is a short car-ride away from the vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape, the Côtes du Rhone to the west and Les Baux,Cassis and Bandol to the south. For those especially interested in nature, the National wildlife Preserve in the Camargue makes a fascinating day trip.
There are many world class cultural events within very easy reach too: the Opera Festival in Aix, the Theatre Festival in Avignon and the Inetrnational Piano Festival in La Roque d'Anthéron, among others.

Aix-en-Provence, one of the loveliest cities in Southern Europe, birthplace of Cézanne and Zola, 25 minutes from Lourmarin; Avignon - the Popes' palace, the famous bridge and the medieval city, just 45 minutes from here; Arles - Roman Coliseum and amphitheatre, Romanesque cathedral and Van Gogh's inspiration - 50 minutes; The Cistercian Abbey of Sénanque and the celebrated hilltop villages of Gordes, Bonnieux, Ménerbes and Roussillon with its ochre quarries; the nearby vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône, Chateauneuf-du-Pape and the Côtes du Luberon. And of course the 14 restaurants of Lourmarin, within easy walking distance of the apartment. Hiking, biking and horse-riding in the Luberon hills.

Rental Rate Notes
Minimum of one week June, July August. Minimum stay of three nights other months. Contact owners for long-term/sabbatical & low-season rates (one month or over) Payment via PayPal using Visa or MastercardRental Policies
Rental Conditions "Le Genêt" is available for regular season weekly rentals from 650 Euros per week ($775). Prices include all taxes, linen & towels, twice weekly cleaning, and daily french bread and croissant delivery. Long-term and quiet-season rentals rates are from 495 Euros(US$595) per week. Prices include all taxes and,linen & towels.
We ask for a 50% deposit at the time of reservation, with the balance due a month before arrival. The seposit is payable by check in US$, Euros or British pounds.
As for cancellation, we refund the full deposit minus a processing fee of $35 if a cancellation is made more than three months before the arrival date. If however cancellation is done at the last minute ( less than four weeks before arrival) we reserve the right to keep 75 % of the rental fee. Obviously the problem for us is finding substitute bookings, and the longer the notice the easier it is. We try to find substitute guests, and if we succeed, we refund 100% of the total amount paid minus the $35 fee. Since most weekly rentals are done well in advance, the real problem for us is last minute cancellations. These are usually made for bona fide health reasons, which is normally covered by travelors insurance.
