Playa Del Carmen is a hidden gem on the Caribbean coast of Eastern Mexico. It is a resort community in a small Mexican village with white sandy beaches and turquoise seas. Jacques Cousteau called these waters here "the clearest and bluest in the world." Playa del Carmen is inhabited and visited by mostly Europeans, and because of that it has a very international culture. Playa is only 45 minutes from Cancun, but the town is completely different. Playa has the inherent charm of its old days as a Mexican village combined with the chic and trendy hot spots that people come from around the world to indulge in. The town of Playa has a limit on building heights, 3-4 stories and most have grass hut roofing, and the charming cobblestone streets are lined with unique restaurants, boutiques, and incredible night life. At the beach you will be spoiled by the incredible food, frozen drinks, and european chill-out music straight from London. The beaches are liberal and somewhat topless. The second best diving in the world is on the island Cozumel, only a half hour boat ride away. In Cozumel, even when snorkeling, you will see creatures of the sea that you have only heard about in storybooks. In Playa you do not need a car, life here is relaxing and slow, and everything is a short stroll down the road. Once you spend a holiday in Playa Del Carmen, you will have a hard time leaving. We always do.

Casa De Lauria is located just two blocks to Mamitas Beach, rated the top beach in Playa del Carmen, in a 24 unit condominium building called Hacienda San Jose. The building has lush grounds and a beautiful swimming pool made with boulders and natural rock. This condo development was built in 2001. Casa De Lauria is a premier unit because it is on the top floor (3rd), and has a private 500 sq. ft terrace with panoramic views of the entire Caribbean sea and a private jacuzzi. This is a fantastic location only two blocks off of the main promenade, where all of the trendy restaurants and shopping is found. You do not need a car in this location. Both bedrooms have king size beds and large closets. The kitchen is outfitted in granite with all of the utilities you need to make your own meals: coffee maker, toaster, pots & pans, dishes, etc. This condo has fine linens, beach towels, hair dryer, internet access, and cable t.v. The penthouse has a 6 person couch, table for 4, jacuzzi for 2, 2 lounge chairs, and the best views in all of Playa Del Carmen of the entire coastline. You can see Cozumel all lit up at night, along with the thousands of stars, and the full moon if you planned your trip accordingly.
