Waterfront home in Punta del Este, Uruguay, one of South America's best known beach resorts. Where the River Plate (Rio de la Plata) meets the Atlantic Ocean.

This home is located in the exclusive "El Faro" (lighthouse) district right across the street from the ocean, facing due west. Gorgeous views of Isla Gorriti (Gorriti Island), sailboats and sunsets over the ocean. Quick walk to the Punta del Este Yacht Club and Marina. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Nice walk or short drive to popular spots. For example:

10 second walk to the the ocean. 10 minute walk to the yacht club and marina. 8 minute ride to the major casinos. 10 minute ride to all the shopping areas or to various golf clubs. 15 minute ride to Rincon del Indio, La Barra, Manantiales, El Chorro and Punta Piedras. 30 minute ride to Punta Ballena or Jose Ignacio. 30 minute ride to the nearest major airport.

From Montevideo: 1 hour drive From Buenos Aires, Argentina: 45 minute flight. From Sao Paulo, Brazil or from Santiago, Chile: 2.5 hour flight. From Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: 3.5 hour flight.

Other things to consider:

Summer (peak season) runs from December to March, the Fall season is March to June, Winter is from June to September and Spring runs from September to December.

The whales usually arrive in November.

During the summer months, the nightlife starts at midnight and ends whenever (normally after the sun is up).

The housekeeper and gardner are always around. A cook is available upon request.

There are plenty of museums but you will probably only go if it rains for a long time. There are a godzillion other things to do, like horsback riding, ecoturism, visit a cattle or sheep ranch, visit a dairy farm, see world class Arabian horses, attend classic car shows, antique stores, public actions, concerts, movie, theatre, etc.
