When you stay at Black butte, you can enjoy a four-bedroom three bath, 2400 square foot home nestled in whispering Ponderosa pines and Aspen trees. A 500-acre meadow and five lakes surround the home. You will enjoy large windows, cathedral ceilings, fireplace and plenty of modern conveniences. The home has a newly remodeled kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, JennAir downdraft stove, and cooking utensils. Linens are provided for three baths and four bedrooms, one of which is a large separate space with three sets of bunkbeds and plenty of space for the children to play games and watch TV. There are three televisions, Vcr/dvd, stereo, gas BBQ, washer and dryer for your convenience. Additionally, there are two decks for enjoying the beautiful view watching the breeze through the aspen groves and the occasional deer.

Until the turn of the century, Central Oregon's Black Butte Ranch was a land seen only by Indian tribes, trappers, land surveyors, cattlemen, gold prospectors, and a family whose 160-acre homestead was used as a summer residence. At the dawn of the 20th century, the ranch was used as the headquarters for a livestock company. After efforts to drain the vast swamplands found here failed, the land was sold eventually to owners who wanted to preserve the land. In 1970, they agreed to sell their 1280 acres to a lumber company in Bend, Oregon, which promised to develop the land while preserving the natural beauty as much as possible. In 1971 the Black Butte Ranch resort opened and now you can enjoy the beauty of this mountain wonderland too.

Today, Black Butte Ranch is one of the best places to stay in Central Oregon. With its spectacular views, comfortable accommodations, and things to see and do for the entire family, it offers one of the region's greatest lodging values. The home is located near the western boundary adjacent to biking and hiking trails.

Black Butte offers two championship 18-hole golf courses, 19 tennis courts and several swimming pools. Its golf courses have received high ratings from "Golf Digest" and if you have never played golf in Oregon, you are in for a real treat; the fairways are lush and the greens are smooth. There are also opportunities for tennis, canoeing, jogging, horseback riding, fishing, biking, and hiking on the resort property. Each of the swimming pools has a playground and there is a large recreation center with daytime and evening activities for children and teenagers. You will have lots of territory to hike and explore in the Cascade Range, Mt. Washington, Mt. Jefferson and Three Fingered Jack Mountain. The area is also home to the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery, The Anderson Llama Ranch, and the MacKensie Pass Lava Fields. Farther to the east is the town of Bend and the Oregon High Desert. This area is also home to many fine shops and restaurants in which you can spend your evenings and relax. In fact, Black Butte Ranch's own restaurant has been given and award of excellence.

Speaking of awards, Black Butte Ranch has been recognized on Conde Nast Traveler's Gold List of the world's top resorts, Golf Magazine has awarded it as a Silver Medal Resort, and it was rated one of the 50 most affordable places to stay in the United States by Travel & Leisure Magazine. This complete resort will comfort you with its cozy accommodations and delight you with its attractions for the entire family. Stay at Black Butte Ranch, and you will want to return again and again.
