Description of the Property
You walk through a hand-crafted gate, down a long stone path, through an apple arbor, past a koi pond, through a gate and arrive at your own, very private deck which is shaded by old oak trees and comfortable with a hammock, dining area, and lounge. There are apricots, grapes, figs and plums (in season) all within reach.
You open French doors and enter the cottage where you first see the Queen-sized bed under stained-glass windows that look out into a succulant garden. Panning the room, you take in the comfy couch which faces windows looking out onto the garden, a flat-screen TV and art created by friends of ours.
You tuck your belongings away in the walk-in closet and go pour yourself a glass of wine in the fully equiped kitchen with honed black granite countertops and handmade beach stone drawer pulls. With music playing on the stereo, you draw yourself a bath in the claw-foot tub, or you head back out onto the deck and relax in the hammock, or lounge, or you cuddle up in the bed and stare up at the huge-beamed ceiling and feel the zen-like ease of the place we call Sycamore Cottage.

What Sycamore Cottage has to offer above all things is a sense of retreat. We designed it with the idea that a couple seeking a romantic get-away, or a writer or musician or painter or most any of us seeking a sense of calm in our crazy lives could have a place to simply rest. If you are looking for a quiet beach to walk on, we know just the place. If you'd like a massage we have a number of friends who are wonderful body-workers. If you're looking for a restaurant, or a wine tour, Saral and I have lived in Santa Barbara for more than 30 years and are happy to help you out. And if you're looking to read, relax, rejuvinate, Sycamore Cottage is a lovely place to do that...or so we, and our guests, have told us.

Rental Rate Notes
We ask you to send us a $200 deposit to secure your stay. Check in time is 2pm and check out is 12 noon. There is a 2 night minimum and a 7 day cancellation policy. A 3 night min. on ALL major holidays. A deposit of $200 is required 7 days in advance and is non- refundable if reservation is canceled within 7 days of arrival. An additional $300 pet deposit is also required and is refundable if there is no damage. *NOTE* There will be a $50 processing and handling fee if reservation is canceled and deposit is returned. Viewing of property by appoinment only, with 24 hours notice, thanks. VALID ID must be presented. Payment in the form of CASH, CASHIERS CHECKS, AND MONEY ORDERS ACCEPTED ONLY -- NO PERSONAL CHECKS PLEASE, THANKS!Rental Policies
We charge $50 per week for cleaning. If you stay a portion of a week, the charge remains the same. If you stay for weeks, or months, we ask that the cottage be cleaned weekly and will automatically add this $50 cleaning fee to your bill.
We ask that you send us a $200 deposit to secure your stay. We also ask that if you have a dog (well-behaved, angel of a dog) that you give us an additional $100 deposit.
If you need to cancel your stay for some reason, if you do so giving us a week's notice we'll refund your deposit, minus a $25 handling and processing fee. We'll refund the full amount of your deposit given that the cottage is left in the same manner you found it when you arrived.
