Shop, Dine & More at Great Harbor near BVI Villa Rentals

Stroll barefoot through the powdery white sandy beaches, just steps from the BVI Villa rentals, for an afternoon of peaceful tranquility. Perhaps you would prefer surfing, kayaking or scuba diving, which can also be enjoyed on this beautiful British Virgin Island, Jost Van Dyke. This Caribbean Island has often been referred to as "The Last Virgin Island."

While here you will certainly want to visit the "Bubbly Pool", a naturally formed tidal pool just beneath the rocky cliffs on the east side of the island. As you wade in the water, don't be alarmed when you will see a forceful wave heading your way; before striking you, it will break impulsively just outside the pool, creating a bubble result similar to that of a Jacuzzi.

Whether you are staying in a beachfront villa or a seaside cottage, you will appreciate this family-friendly U.S. Island; it's also perfect for a Caribbean wedding. Your shopping and dining experience will please you as this island features an assortment of local delicacies, delicious home-cooked Caribbean food, and alluring boutiques in close vicinity to the Jost Van Dyke vacation homes. Below is a sampler of your dining and shopping opportunities.

White Bay Dining and Shopping

At Ivan's Local Flavor Restaurant, you will love the friendly atmosphere and tasty foods. This family owned and operated business is certainly a tourist hot spot as well as a favorite hang out for the locals. Stop by on Thursday evenings for freshly caught fish, mouth-watering chicken and ribs prepared by Ivan on the grill. Reuben Chinnery is a local "live entertainment" favorite who often performs here, as well as many visiting musicians. Be sure to keep your eyes out for a famous recording artist or two. After lunch, be sure to stop by Ivan's Street Free Shop where Ivan proudly displays t-shirts, hats, souvenirs and plenty more unique Jost Van Dyke commodities for you to pick up and take home.

Another famous hangout is a place known as "The Soggy Dollar Bar" which features a huge variety of luncheon specialties like Chicken Roti, a local favorite. During the day, you will find many St. John and St. Thomas boaters traveling here to grab a delicious meal and a refreshing drink. For beachwear, casual apparel, gift items, hand-made beaded jewelry and more, visit The Soggy Dollar Boutique. There is a little something here for everyone.

Great Harbor Bar & Restaurant

Corsair's Beach Bar & Restaurant is fairly new to the Island and is open every day of the week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will find this place just a short distance down the hill in Great Harbor. The menu features seafood, pasta, Mexican tastes and Virgin Islands favorites. If you love mahi-mahi, lobster, grouper, fresh conch, shrimp, snapper and the like, you have come to the right place for meals that will satisfy any appetite.
