Free Fun Awaits near Breckenridge Cabin Rentals

Breckenridge cabin rentals have a lot to offer travelers and one of those perks is the beautiful location. The Colorado town has a ton of activities available for guests and some of the very best options are free of charge.

Barney Ford House Museum

Breckenridge is unexpectedly full of history and the Barney Ford House Museum showcases it in a beautiful way. Barney Ford was a runaway slave, who turned into a Civil Rights leader and successful entrepreneur. He really made an impact on the town of Breckenridge and the lives of its people. Ford's home, which is the museum today, was constructed in the late 1800's and was the showpiece of the town. The simple white house is surrounded by vibrant tress that give the home a welcoming atmosphere and visitors really get an inviting feeling. The inside has been resorted and now holds furniture from Ford's time. The house is located in the historic section of the town, which is a short drive from most Breckenridge cabin rentals. The Barney Ford House Museum shows the perseverance that one man had to be something. It's a great activity for members of the whole family and it's free to explore.

Sledding at Carter Park

One of the very best spots for sledding in all of Breckenridge is at Carter Park. Your Breckenridge rental might not have the sufficient space needed for sledding and the resorts in the area do not allow sledding. Carter Park, however, has almost everything visitors would need to enjoy a day of sledding. There is no fee or admission price to sled at the park. A large hill, which was a former ski slope, sets the scene for an adventurous ride. Once at the bottom, visitors can enjoy a short walk back up the hill and perhaps even have a race to see who makes it to the top first. Sled rentals are not available at Carter Park. Visitors can purchase them at several stores in town, which are located close to most Breckenridge cabin rentals, or bring their own sled from home.

Gondola ride

The BreckConnect is Breckenridge's own gondola transportation. Each gondola holds up to 8 passengers and they can bring their sporting equipment with them. The BreckConnect starts at the Breckenridge Transportation Center and lets passengers off at Peak 7 and Peak 8 of the resort area. Free parking is available across the street from the Breckenridge Transportation Center or visitors can walk to the BreckConnect if their cabin rental is close enough. The area that the gondola travels over is the real wonder. Wildlife and scenic views of mountains can easily be seen from inside the gondola. Even if passengers do not intend on skiing, they can simply ride the BreckConnet for the views. Bring a camera and enjoy the free sights.
