A holiday getaway in one of the Topsail Island beach rentals means lazy afternoons by the beach and tours to several wineries within the neighboring cities and towns. Many of these wineries are family-owned, offering different kinds of wine ranging from the sweet ones to the French-style, Scuppernong or Muscadine varieties. An hour drive from your own Topsail rental, local vineyards welcome tourists who want to sample their age-old wines or newly harvested concoctions during autumn.
The Country Squire Winery
The Scottish-themed Country Squire Winery is a recent addition to the original Country Squire Restaurant that has been in existence for more than 40 years. The winery is conveniently located between Warsaw and Kenansville on Business 24 and Highway 50. Iris Lennon and her daughter Lorraine Smith, owners of County Squire, hail from Scotland and both have personally contributed to the winery's new creations.

Other house wines that were popular during the recent Muscadine Festival in Kenansville include the Squire's Best Chardonnay, Sunken Garden Thistle White Zinfandel and the Rustic Tavern Red Merlot. Premium Wine choices like The Apple Orchard Riesling, Black Knight Cabernet and Highlander Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot are also available.
