They will probably also enjoy taking a walking tour of the numerous historic buildings in the town's historic district, like the First Presbyterian Church, built in 1808. In February visitors will be treated to the Mardi Gras Festival that features floats, marching bands and entertainment and at night, a Costume Ball. St. Marys is home to Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base, so visitors renting St. Marys vacation homes may want to make a visit to the Submarine Museum along the river in town. With a working periscope, deep seas diving suits and model torpedoes, the museum offers a glimpse into what life on a submarine is like. Those staying in St. Marys beach rentals will want to visit the Cumberland Island National Seashore, which is known for its wild horses.
