Owls Head, Maine Vacation Rentals

Owls Head is in south central Maine, along the Atlantic Ocean. Guests staying at Owls Head vacation rentals will be pleased that Birch Point State Park is so close. There is a nice sandy beach for swimming and it is a popular spot for fishermen. The Owls Head Transportation Museum has more than 100 vintage cars, airplanes, motorcycles and carriages. Those staying in Owls Head beach rentals might want to visit the Owls Head Lighthouse, built in 1825. The promontory it is built on has a good view of the water. Visitors renting Owls Head vacation homes will also want to visit nearby Rockland and go sailing in a 55-foot coastal ketch for a two hour cruise in Penobscot Bay. Or they might want to go sea kayaking and explore the coastline. The Farnsworth Art Museum has a Maine in America Collection with works by nationally known artists that are tied to the state. It includes many works by the Wyeth family. There are 17 art galleries to browse through in this town. Tourists often enjoy a visit to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in nearby Boothbay. It has miles of trails, ornamental gardens, waterfalls and ponds, as well as art exhibits. There are many fine restaurants, but for a great lobster dinner locals always go to Oceanside Seafood and Steaks in Rockland.
