Beech Mountain is a town located in the northwestern part of North Carolina. Beech Mountain is one of the higher peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountain range. They were given the name "Blue Ridge" because of their bluish color when seen from a distance. Hopefully guests of Beech Mountain vacation homes don't have a problem with elevation because this town is the highest incorporated city east of the Mississippi River, at 5,500 feet. Not surprisingly, skiing is a popular activity for visitors to Beech Mountain cabin rentals. May 1 is the town's anniversary and always a fun time to visit. A tree planting also happens as part of the celebration. Visitors to Beech Mountain vacation rentals during August can enjoy the annual street dance and the annual barn dance. A family-friendly activity is the Tweetsie Railroad, a historic Wild West theme park. If you're looking for a unique experience, you might want to try driving part (or all) of the Blue Ridge Parkway, a 439 mile scenic drive. You will be amazed at what you can see.
