Milwaukee Basics

Home to one of the most dramatic structures in the world - the Milwaukee Art Museum -- The City of Milwaukee is one of the largest and most progressive cities in the Midwestern region. The Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM) is a destination in itself. It features the Quadracci Pavilion, which is the first Santiago Calatrava-designed building in the country. The building features "a 90-foot high glass-walled reception hall enclosed by the Burke Brise Soleil, a sunscreen that can be raised or lowered creating a unique moving sculpture." This striking structure sits on beautiful Lake Michigan and it houses more than 20,000 works of art. Milwaukee is also home to the famous Summerfest celebration, which attracts more than 1 million people each year. Other major Milwaukee attractions include Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion, Milwaukee River, Havenwood State Forest, Schlitz Audubon Center, Miller Brewery Tours and the Mitchell Gallery of Flight, to name a few. Milwaukee also offers hundreds of places to shop ranging from funky boutiques to designer shops. The area is also home to hundreds of excellent restaurants and eateries.
