Mesa Verde Vacation Homes for Sale
Mesa Verde Basics
Mesa Verde Colorado is home to the popular Mesa Verde National Park, which celebrated its 100th birthday in 2006. The park currently protects more than 4,000 archaeological sites including a whopping 600 cliff dwellings. According to the National Park Service, these are "some the most notable and best preserved in the United States." Visitors will explore sites and attractions such as the Chapin Mesa Archaeological Museum and the Spruce Tree House, as well as the Long House. Hiking is only permitted in certain areas and with a guide as trails are steep and strenuous, and because the sites are fragile and need to be protected. There are several cities near Mesa Verde including Cortez, Dolores, Durango, and Mancos, Colorado.
