Westport Island, Maine is a picturesque hamlet that was settled well after the 1600's, and it wasn't incorporated as an island community until 1828. Located in the Bath/Boothbay Harbor region of Maine's mid-coast, Westport Island is surrounded by a rocky shoreline and the a look out into the water will reveal harbor seals and lobster boats bobbing in the water. Attractions include Doggett's Castle, and the Marie Antoinette House. Other nearby attractions include: the town of Wiscasset which features unique antique shops, boating trips during the day, and whale watching and lighthouse excursions, as well as deep sea fishing, an ocean aquarium at Boothbay Harbor, Reid State Park Beach in Georgetown, and the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath.
