San Juan Vacation Homes for Sale

San Juan Basics

San Juan Puerto Rico was founded in 1521 and it has a population of 442,447 residents. Also known as "La Ciudad Amurallada" (the walled city), San Juan is the oldest city under the U.S. flag. San Juan is located in the Northern Coastal Plains region in the karst zone -- west of Carolina and Trujillo Alto, east of Bayamon, and north of Aguas Buenas and Caguas. San Juan is divided into three areas including the Beach & Resort Area, Old San Juan, and the outlying communities. The 564-year-old Old San Juan area is a particular point of interest for it's historic plazas, forts, structures, and museums, and the resort area is notable for its pristine beaches and elegant hotels. While the outlying areas are certainly off-the-beaten-path and certain elements may be quite exciting, many of these areas are not safe. "Bandits" target tourists on a regular basis. If traveling outside of the main areas is absolutely necessary, it's best to travel in large groups.
