Baker Ski Area that sits at the edge of wilderness in the center of the North Cascade Mountains. Other points of interest include Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, Mt. Baker National Recreation Area and Mt. Baker Wilderness. Scenic Highways abound here - explore the upper 24 miles of Mount Baker Highway. Start at the town of Glacier to Artist Point (elevation 5,140 feet, designated a National Forest Scenic Byway in 1989), and follow it along the North Fork Nooksack River. At the road's end the trail systems lead into the Mt. Baker Wilderness.
